Founded in 1974, the Arkansas Association of College History Teachers was created with these specific goals:

• Improve the teaching of History for all levels of instruction

• Advance the professional interests of its membership

• Establish closer rapport among the various History faculties

 

The  AACHT focuses on specific objectives to help solve real-world issues History faculty and teachers continue to face, including academic freedom; diversity and equity in our discipline; and virtual classrooms.

 

The AACHT endeavors to create and maintain relationships with agencies and institutions that impact professionals in our field, including the Arkansas Education Association, the Arkansas State Assembly, and historical archives and library and research facilities throughout the state.

The AACHT promotes excellence in teaching; innovation in the classroom; and collaboration among historians.
